Private Lower Gorge Explorer

From AUD $75.00
  • Duration: 9 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Carnarvon Gorge, QLD
  • Product code: PLGE

Visit the Art Gallery, Ward's Canyon, Amphitheatre, and the Moss Garden with Carnarvon Gorge's most experienced guides.

Hunt for wildlife and unusual plants as you meander along the Gorge floor and then discover the ceremonial meaning behind the Gorge's 4000 year old rock art.

Use Ward's Canyon's extraordinary microclimate to see 30 million years back in time while you wait for the Billy to boil at lunchtime.

Read the Amphitheatre's hidden clues into the formation of the Gorge's rocks and then see the same geology in action as you follow the long journey of the ancient water dripping from the walls of the Moss Garden.

Available: April - October.

Duration: 8 - 9 hours.

Distance: 14 kilometres.

Terrain: 16 creek crossings via stepping stones, so good balance is essential. Staircases in and out of the four major sites. The first and last 3 km negotiate a series of three ridge lines, so there are stairs, up and down, in both directions.

Group size: Min 2 - Max 8 (Bookings for groups larger than 8 are possible. Please make direct contact with Simon and Michele for more information).

Includes: Unfortunately, due to COVID Safe restrictions, we are unable to supply our home-baked goods for morning and afternoon tea. Nor are we able to provide tea and coffee. However, we can boil water for those who are happy to bring their own cup, tea, coffee, milk and sugar.

BYO: Hand sanitiser, lunch, water, snacks, hat, walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing & camera. Please BYO cup, tea, coffee, milk and sugar if you would like a hot drink at lunchtime. Hiking poles will also be handy if you are concerned about your balance on the creek crossings.
